Mobile Bartender Near Me: How to Hire One
In this guide

To hire a mobile bartender near you, start with three things: whether they can serve your venue, what they bring, and what the full service window will cost. A bartender working at your venue’s existing counter and a team bringing a portable bar with supplies can both appear in the same search results, but they cover different needs.

BeeHive Mobile Bar is based in Orange County, California and serves Southern California by arrangement. We offer bartender-only service and Bronze, Silver and Gold mobile bar packages for weddings, private parties, corporate events and brand launches. Every option is dry hire: you purchase and provide the alcohol using our shopping list. We handle the bartending and the equipment and supplies included in your booking.

Find a mobile bartender who can serve your venue

A search for “mobile bartender near me” gives you a starting point. Before comparing prices, confirm that the business travels to your venue and is available for your date. A nearby business address does not establish either of those things.

  1. Start with the venue’s rules. Ask whether outside bartenders and host-purchased alcohol are permitted, which documents the venue requires, and when vendors can load in and leave.

  2. Search by service and event. Try “mobile bartender Orange County” or “bartender for a private party” with your venue city. Look for event service, rather than a bar or restaurant you would visit.

  3. Check the business behind the listing. Read its service descriptions, recent reviews and event information. Ask whether photos show its actual work or illustrative setups, and request details of the bar and equipment proposed for your event.

  4. Confirm travel and availability. Provide your date, venue city, guest count and planned bar hours. BeeHive’s travel outside the standard service area is by arrangement, and travel fees may apply; your proposal confirms the details.

  5. Send the same brief to each provider. Include the menu style, total guests, estimated guests who may drink alcohol, and what the venue supplies. Mention a concentrated arrival rush or multiple service locations.

  6. Compare written proposals. Check staffing, included hours, equipment, supplies, extra time and travel together. Keep the alcohol purchase separate so each service price is being compared on the same basis.

Venues, planners and caterers can also suggest providers. Use those referrals to build your shortlist, then confirm the arrangements yourself. Our guide to mobile bar companies and how their services differ explains what to look for in the inclusion lists.

Choose bartender-only service or a mobile bar package

The most useful question is what your venue already has. A suitable counter helps, but you also need a plan for ice, coolers, mixers, drinkware and garnishes. Confirm those items before choosing the service with the lowest starting price.

Bartender-only service

Bartender-only service is a separate service, rather than a mobile bar package. It starts at $350 for two hours of bar service, with a two-hour minimum. It includes professional bartending, standard bar tools, setup and cleanup of the bartending work area, and an alcohol shopping list. Staffing is confirmed for your event.

Unless the proposal says otherwise, you or the venue provide the bar or work surface, alcohol, mixers, ice, coolers, drinkware, garnishes, napkins, straws and other beverages and supplies. This option can work well when those arrangements are already in place.

If you want us to bring a bar, the optional $150 add-on provides the mobile bar only. You then do not need to supply the bar itself, but the remaining supplies are still your responsibility. The add-on does not include extra service hours, mixers, ice, coolers, drinkware or garnishes. A custom printed menu is not automatically included with bartender-only service or this add-on.

Bronze, Silver and Gold packages

Our packages combine bartending with a portable bar and the listed supplies. All three have a three-hour minimum. Bronze and Silver starting prices include three hours of service; Gold’s service hours are specified in its custom quote.

Package Starting price and guest guidance Bartenders and cocktails Bar and distinguishing inclusions
Bronze $750 for 3 hours; recommended for up to 70 guests 1 bartender; 2 signature cocktails Mobile bar and standard garnishes
Silver $1,150 for 3 hours; recommended for up to 120 guests 2 bartenders; 3 signature cocktails total Large mobile bar and premium garnishes
Gold Custom quote; 3-hour minimum; recommended for 120+ guests 2 or more bartenders; 4 signature cocktails Custom-styled bar, premium garnishes and presentation, soft drinks, water and a Refreshment Station

Every package includes bar tools, mixers, ice, coolers, plastic glassware, napkins, straws, package-appropriate garnishes, setup and breakdown, an alcohol shopping list and a custom printed menu. You purchase the alcohol. We do not buy, sell, supply, transport or deliver it.

Guest counts are planning guidance. Cocktail complexity, peak ordering times and the length of service affect the final staffing plan. Include guests ordering mocktails and other alcohol-free drinks when discussing workload. If you or the venue provide glassware for us to use, confirm the quantities and who handles clearing, washing and returns.

Questions to settle before paying a deposit

Once a provider can serve your venue, use the proposal to assign responsibilities. A clear answer should identify the person or vendor handling each item, rather than leave it as “someone will bring it.”

Check What to settle Who confirms it
Time and staffing Arrival, setup, bar opening and closing, breakdown, number of bartenders, and the rate for extra time Bar provider and host or coordinator
Bar and supplies Which bar, tools, ice, coolers, mixers, garnishes and drinkware are included; who supplies anything else Provider, host and venue
Access and layout Unloading route, stairs, setup location, shelter and any power or water needed for the booked equipment Venue and bar provider
Alcohol and other drinks Host’s purchase, transport and storage plan; water, mocktails and any separate toast Host, using the agreed menu and shopping list
Venue requirements Outside-vendor approval, required insurance documents and any applicable alcohol permissions Venue, provider and relevant authority where needed
Cost and booking terms Service total, add-ons, travel, other applicable charges, deposit, balance deadline and written cancellation terms Provider supplies terms; host reviews them

Ask separately about waste bins, handwashing arrangements or other site requirements; do not assume they are included. Work-area cleanup also needs to be distinguished from clearing guest tables or cleaning the entire venue.

For BeeHive, a signed agreement and 25% deposit reserve the booking. The proposal states the remaining balance and payment deadline. Tips are optional and appreciated, and tip jars require client and venue approval.

Agree on responsible-service procedures before the event, including who handles guest concerns and when service may pause. The California ABC model alcohol-management policy offers example practices for daily licenses, special events and large venues. It is a planning reference, not confirmation of the requirements or permissions for your particular booking.

For an outdoor setup, confirm shade, access and an alternative location if conditions change. This guide to bar planning for Central Texas weddings discusses outdoor setup considerations; use your California venue’s own requirements for your event.

If your wedding plans include first-dance lessons, Danza Academy’s guide on how to choose a dance studio covers questions for that separate vendor. For a company event with several suppliers, this supplier guidance for corporate event planners provides a broader checklist for comparing them.

Plan the alcohol you will purchase

Build the shopping list around the guests who may drink alcohol, your bar hours and the final menu. Also plan appealing alcohol-free drinks for the whole event. A guest who is not drinking alcohol can still order several prepared drinks and needs to be included in service planning.

Under BeeHive’s dry-hire arrangement, you purchase and provide all alcohol in advance. The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control FAQ explains that hired bartenders operating under this arrangement cannot purchase alcohol for reimbursement or collect and deliver a prepaid alcohol order. The alcohol remains the host’s property, and the bartender cannot return it to the seller.

A simple purchasing example

For a hypothetical gathering of 80 guests, including 55 who may drink alcohol, with three hours of bar service, BeeHive’s alcohol calculator offers these two purchasing assumptions:

Planning setting Calculation Estimated alcoholic drinks
One drink per service hour per guest who may drink 55 × 3 165
One drink per service hour, plus one extra for the event, per guest who may drink 55 × (3 + 1) 220

These are inventory estimates, not recommendations for how much anyone should drink. The 25 guests not drinking alcohol still need a drinks plan, and water and alcohol-free options should be available to everyone.

Use BeeHive’s alcohol calculator to build your shopping list →

Enter the beer, wine and cocktail proportions that fit your guests. Wine uses a 5 US fl oz serving, and spirits use the selected 1.5 or 2 US fl oz pour. Split spirit purchases by your actual recipes. The calculator adds no percentage buffer and does not include mixers, ice, water, alcohol-free drinks, garnishes or a separate toast. Our guide to how much liquor to buy for a party explains the bottle calculations.

For a package, confirm the listed supplies against your agreed menu instead of buying them twice. With bartender-only service, assign those supplies to yourself, the venue or another confirmed provider. Any alcohol used in a slushie must also be purchased and provided by you.

Budget for the hours and extras you need

Additional bartender-only service costs $75 per started hour. Additional Bronze, Silver or Gold service costs $100 per bartender per started hour. A started additional hour is billed in full, with no prorating, and extra time requires availability and written agreement.

For a hypothetical four-hour reception with 90 guests, Silver is a reasonable starting point to discuss. Assuming its standard two-bartender arrangement and starting price suit the event, the service calculation is:

  • Silver, including three hours: $1,150.

  • One additional hour for two bartenders: 1 × 2 × $100 = $200.

  • Illustrative four-hour service subtotal: $1,350.

This is an example, not a quote. Alcohol, selected add-ons, travel and other applicable charges remain separate. Final staffing and price depend on the event. Our guide to mobile bartending prices and what affects them gives further comparisons.

Add refreshments according to what you want guests to have available:

  • Soft drinks and water: $3 per drink outside Gold; included in Gold.

  • Refreshment Station: starts at $125 for 4 gallons of your chosen house-made lemonade, infused water, iced tea or seasonal refreshment. The website estimates approximately 45 guests, depending on serving size and consumption. Extra gallons are $25 each. A Refreshment Station is included in Gold.

  • Slushie Machine: starts at $215 for 2 gallons of one alcoholic or non-alcoholic signature slushie, estimated for approximately 30 guests. Extra gallons are $45 each. Two flavors require a second station, with pricing and quantities confirmed in the proposal. You provide any alcohol.

Choose the service that fits the venue, then confirm the menu, supplies and busiest service period with your bartender. That gives you a useful basis for a quote and a clear plan for the day.
