Hiring a cocktail bartender for your event starts with two decisions: how long you need service and how much of the bar setup you want to organize yourself. At BeeHive Mobile Bar, bartender-only service starts at $350 for two hours. Mobile bar packages start at $750 for Bronze and $1,150 for Silver, with a three-hour minimum. Gold is custom-quoted.
Those prices cover different services. A useful comparison includes staffing, supplies, equipment and service hours, with alcohol budgeted separately. Here’s how to work out which option fits your event and what to include in your total.
What does hiring a cocktail bartender include?
With bartender-only service, BeeHive provides professional bartending, standard bar tools, a personalized alcohol shopping list, and setup and cleanup of the bartending work area. You arrange the bar surface and operating supplies. This can work well if your venue or caterer already has them.
A mobile bar package brings more of the setup together: the bar, ice, coolers, bar tools, mixers, plastic glassware, napkins, straws, garnishes, setup and breakdown, and a custom printed menu. The bar style, staffing, cocktail selection and garnish details depend on the tier.
All BeeHive services use a dry-hire model. You purchase and provide the alcohol using our shopping list. BeeHive does not sell, buy, supply, transport or deliver alcohol. Our service price and your alcohol shopping budget are separate.
BeeHive’s prices at a glance
| Service | Starting price and service time | Staffing and menu | Best starting point when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bartender-only | $350 for two hours; two-hour minimum | Bartending and standard tools; staffing confirmed for your event | You have a suitable bar and can arrange the supplies. |
| Bronze | $750 for three hours; three-hour minimum | One bartender; two signature cocktails; guidance up to 70 guests | You want a mobile bar package for a birthday or smaller private party. |
| Silver | $1,150 for three hours; three-hour minimum | Two bartenders; three signature cocktails; guidance up to 120 guests | You are planning a wedding or company event needing a larger bar and more staff. |
| Gold | Custom quote; three-hour minimum | Two or more bartenders; four signature cocktails; guidance for 120+ guests | Your event needs a custom-styled bar and a broader service plan. |
Bronze includes standard garnishes. Silver includes a large mobile bar and premium garnishes. Gold includes premium garnishes and presentation, soft drinks, water and a Refreshment Station. Guest counts are planning guidance; the menu, arrival pattern and venue layout help determine the staffing your event needs.

What changes the price of your booking?
Service hours and minimums
Bartender-only service has a two-hour minimum, with each additional started hour charged at $75. Bronze, Silver and Gold have a three-hour minimum, with extra service charged at $100 per bartender per started hour. Additional time is subject to availability and written agreement, with no prorating.
For example, an extra hour with two package bartenders costs $200, not $100. Set your planned opening and closing times before booking, and allow a separate venue access window for setup and breakdown.
The menu and the busiest part of the event
A guest count alone doesn’t describe the workload. Shaken cocktails, detailed garnishes and a concentrated arrival period take more coordination than guests ordering beer or wine throughout an afternoon. Include guests choosing mocktails when planning bar demand.
Tell us whether guests will arrive gradually, gather at the bar after a ceremony, or need drinks ready for a scheduled toast. Those details help us recommend staffing and a menu that suits the pace of the event.
Our bartender staffing calculator gives an initial estimate. Its total staff hours include setup and cleanup; they are a planning measure, not a formula for multiplying BeeHive’s service prices.
Supplies and venue logistics
For bartender-only bookings, include the cost of mixers, garnishes, ice, coolers, drinkware, napkins and straws, along with a suitable bar surface. If a venue or caterer supplies any of these, confirm the quantities and who will have them ready before service.
For any booking, share the venue location, parking and loading arrangements, stairs or access restrictions, and permitted setup times. BeeHive is based in Orange County and serves Southern California by arrangement; travel fees may apply.

Host- or venue-provided glassware can be used when arranged. BeeHive’s package drinkware is plastic glassware.

A four-hour cost comparison
These examples use published starting prices and four hours of bar service. They assume the standard staffing for the selected option, no travel charge and no other add-ons. Your event proposal determines the final price; alcohol remains a separate purchase in every case.
| Option | Calculation | Starting service total |
|---|---|---|
| Bartender-only | $350 + two additional hours × $75 | $500 |
| Bartender-only with mobile bar | $500 + $150 mobile bar add-on | $650 |
| Bronze | $750 + one additional hour × one bartender × $100 | $850 |
| Silver | $1,150 + one additional hour × two bartenders × $100 | $1,350 |
The $150 mobile bar add-on is available with bartender-only service and supplies the mobile bar itself only. Ice, coolers, mixers, garnishes, drinkware and other package supplies are not included with that add-on.
In this example, the difference between bartender-only with a bar and Bronze is $200. If you already have the operating supplies, bartender-only may suit you. If you would need to purchase and organize them, compare that expense and preparation time with the supplies included in Bronze. The guest count and menu must still fit the proposed staffing.
Add-ons to include in your budget
| Option | Current starting price | Planning detail |
|---|---|---|
| Soft drinks and water | $3 per drink | Included in Gold. The charge is per drink, not per guest. |
| Refreshment Station | $125 | Four gallons, approximately 45 guests; additional gallons $25 each. Included in Gold. |
| Slushie Machine | $215 | Two gallons of one flavor, approximately 30 guests; additional gallons $45 each. |
The Refreshment Station is self-serve, with options such as lemonade, infused water, iced tea or a seasonal refreshment. A slushie station can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Two slushie flavors require a second machine station, with the price and quantities confirmed in your proposal. You provide any alcohol used.
Station guest estimates are planning guidance, not unlimited servings. Consider whether the station is a welcome drink, an extra option alongside the bar or a main source of refreshments when deciding quantities.
Confirm these details before booking
| Detail | Who confirms it? | What to agree |
|---|---|---|
| Venue permission | Host and venue | Whether outside bartenders and host-provided alcohol are permitted, plus any insurance or service requirements. |
| Service timeline | Host or planner with BeeHive | Bar opening and closing times, arrival rush, toast time, and setup and breakdown access. |
| Staffing and menu | BeeHive with the host | Guest count, cocktail and mocktail choices, number of bartenders and any separate service points. |
| Supplies | BeeHive, host and any venue or caterer supplying items | A named person responsible for each item, the required quantities and when everything will be ready. |
| Payment | Host and BeeHive | Proposal total, 25% booking deposit, remaining balance and payment deadline. |
Check alcohol-service requirements for the specific venue and event. California ABC’s RBS guidance distinguishes requirements for licensed on-premises service and daily on-sale licenses; the daily-license oversight rule should not be treated as a universal rule for every private party. Confirm the applicable requirements with your venue and ABC where needed.
BeeHive’s tips are optional and appreciated. Tip jars require both client and venue approval. A 25% deposit confirms your booking, and your proposal states the remaining balance and when it is due.

Choose the service that fits your event
Bartender-only service makes sense when the bar and supplies are already organized. A mobile bar package is worth comparing when you want those details coordinated with the service. For either option, the clearest budget starts with your guest count, menu, timeline and venue requirements.
