Event Bartender Rates for Orange County Events
In this guide

BeeHive’s event bartender rates start at $350 for two hours of bartender-only service, $750 for the Bronze package and $1,150 for Silver, with three hours included in those package starting prices. Gold is quoted individually. You purchase and provide the alcohol separately.

The right comparison depends on what your venue already has. A quote for bartending at an equipped venue covers a different job from a package that brings the mobile bar, ice, mixers and serving supplies. For an Orange County wedding, birthday or company event, compare the full service scope before deciding which starting price fits your budget.

What an Event Bartender Rate Includes

An event quote covers the agreed service window, staffing and responsibilities. Check whether it also includes equipment preparation, setup, supplies and breakdown. Ask how arrival and cleanup fit around the hours when drinks are served to guests.

Employee wages are a different measure. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a median bartender wage of $16.51 per hour in May 2025, with the lowest-paid 10% earning less than $9.67 and the highest-paid 10% earning more than $35.47. Those national wage figures include tips; they are not prices for hiring an event-bar business. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing an hourly wage found online with an event proposal.

Use these questions for each quote:

  • How many bartenders are included, and for how many hours of guest-facing service?

  • Who provides the bar surface, ice, coolers, mixers, garnishes and drinkware?

  • What setup and cleanup are included, and when can the team access the venue?

  • Which purchases and optional extras remain outside the quoted total?

Assign venue-wide cleaning separately from bar setup and cleanup. WipesBlog.com’s opening-day hygiene guidance for venue operators is an additional resource for the venue team’s preparation checklist; it does not describe services included in a BeeHive booking.

Starting Rates for Each BeeHive Service

Bartender-only service is a separate service, not a package. Bronze, Silver and Gold combine bartending with a mobile bar and package supplies. All three packages require a three-hour minimum; bartender-only service has a two-hour minimum.

Service Starting price and minimum Staffing and guest guidance Bar and menu
Bartender-only service $350 including 2 hours; 2-hour minimum Staffing tailored to your guest count and confirmed in the proposal Bar tools, setup and cleanup, and a shopping list; host or venue provides the bar and beverage supplies
Bronze package $750 including 3 hours; 3-hour minimum 1 bartender; up to 70 guests Mobile bar, 2 signature cocktails and standard garnishes
Silver package $1,150 including 3 hours; 3-hour minimum 2 bartenders; up to 120 guests Large mobile bar, 3 signature cocktails and premium garnishes
Gold package Custom quote; 3-hour minimum, with the booked duration stated in the proposal 2 or more bartenders; for 120+ guests Custom-styled mobile bar, 4 signature cocktails, premium garnishes and presentation

Bronze, Silver and Gold include ice, coolers, bar tools, mixers, garnishes, plastic glassware, napkins, straws, setup, breakdown and a custom printed menu. Gold also includes soft drinks, water and a Refreshment Station. The signature-cocktail selection describes the planned menu; the alcohol remains your purchase.

For bartender-only service, adding BeeHive’s mobile bar costs $150. That add-on provides the mobile bar only. It does not add ice, mixers, coolers, drinkware, garnishes, other supplies or an automatic printed menu.

Choose around the venue and the busiest part of the event

If the venue has a usable bar and you can organize the supply list, bartender-only service may suit the event. If arranging the bar, coolers and serving supplies would become a separate project, a package may be the more convenient choice.

Guest counts guide the starting conversation. A relaxed arrival period with a simple menu creates different demands from a wedding cocktail hour when everyone orders at once. Detailed cocktails and mocktails, separate bar stations and restocking distances can also affect staffing. Confirm the final team and scope in your proposal rather than treating a guest limit as a promise of identical service at every event.

Extra Hours, Add-Ons, Travel and Tips

Item Price What to know
Extra bartender-only time $75 per started hour Confirm availability, staffing and written agreement
Extra Bronze, Silver or Gold time $100 per bartender per started hour Multiply by the number of bartenders working the extension
Mobile bar add-on for bartender-only service $150 The mobile bar only; no additional supplies or automatic printed menu
Soft drinks and water $3 per drink Included in Gold; confirm any selection outside Gold in the proposal
Refreshment Station From $125 Included in Gold; confirm quantities and any additional servings
Slushie Machine From $215 per station One flavor per station; a second flavor requires a second station. You provide any alcohol

Calculate extensions per bartender

Additional service time is billed in full started hours, not prorated. For Silver’s two bartenders, one additional hour is $100 × 2 = $200. Two additional hours are $100 × 2 × 2 = $400. An agreed 30-minute extension also starts an additional hour and would add $200 for those two bartenders.

Extra time depends on availability and written agreement. Decide who can authorize an extension, and distinguish alcohol last call, the end of all beverage service and equipment breakdown. A late-running event does not automatically extend the booking.

Keep optional extras separate

Choose between individually served soft drinks, a Refreshment Station and prepared mocktails based on what you want guests to receive. A basic soft-drink charge does not automatically cover a custom mocktail menu. Confirm station quantities against portion sizes and expected use rather than assuming unlimited servings.

BeeHive primarily serves Orange County and can travel to select surrounding Southern California areas. Travel fees may apply and are confirmed in the quote. Tips are optional and appreciated; tip jars require both client and venue approval.

What the Client Supplies Under Dry Hire

You buy and provide the alcohol using BeeHive’s shopping list. BeeHive does not sell, supply, buy, transport or deliver alcohol. Our explanation of how dry-hire service differs from wet hire can help you compare service models before planning purchases.

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control's licensing FAQ explains the distinction: hiring someone to bartend does not authorize alcohol sales or alcohol purchasing and delivery by that bartender. Confirm that your venue permits the proposed service arrangement before booking.

Item to arrange Bartender-only service Bronze, Silver or Gold
Alcohol You purchase and provide it using the shopping list You purchase and provide it using the shopping list
Bar surface You or the venue provide it, or add BeeHive’s mobile bar for $150 Mobile bar included according to the package
Ice, coolers, mixers, garnishes and serving supplies You or the venue arrange them according to the agreed menu and proposal Package supplies included; confirm specialty requests and anything outside the agreed scope
Special glassware or venue-specific equipment Confirm availability and responsibility before booking Plastic glassware is included; confirm any alternative arrangements separately

Venue Requirements That Can Affect the Quote

Ask for the venue’s written alcohol policy early. It may allow client-supplied alcohol and outside bartenders, or require service through a licensed caterer. A proposal must fit that operating model as well as your budget.

The California ABC Responsible Beverage Service FAQ addresses alcohol-server certification at ABC-licensed catered events. Requirements depend on the event and license arrangement; confirm the applicable rules with your venue and California ABC. BeeHive does not determine an individual event’s permit status.

Before agreeing on service, confirm the following:

  • Host and venue: agree on the permitted service model, required documents and submission deadlines.

  • Venue coordinator: confirm load-in access, the bar location, storage and the required breakdown finish time.

  • Host and BeeHive: agree on guest-facing service hours, staffing, last call and who can approve changes.

The resource on venue contracts with Closer Innovation Labs describes a digital agreement workflow. It can help with paperwork organization, but it does not replace the venue’s alcohol policy or official guidance.

The California ABC responsible-service guidance is a set of model policies for daily licenses, special events and large venues. Its suggested service limits are not universal BeeHive booking rules. Set the alcohol-service end time for your actual event with the venue and bar team, then put the agreed timing in the proposal.

Our basic bar setup guide can help you assess the work area and guest access. Include alcohol-free service in that plan: a mocktail may still require measuring, shaking and garnishing, so serving less alcohol does not necessarily mean less bartending work.

Sample Event Bartender Rates for Four Bookings

These hypothetical examples use the advertised starting prices and stated staffing. They are service subtotals, not final quotes. Alcohol, travel, supplies outside the selected service, optional tips and other unlisted extras are excluded.

Example and assumption Calculation Starting service subtotal
40-guest dinner, 3 hours; assume the quoted bartender-only staffing suits the menu $350 for 2 hours + $75 for the third hour $425; $575 if the $150 mobile bar is added
Birthday for up to 70 guests, 3 hours, Bronze with 1 bartender $750; add $125 if choosing a Refreshment Station at its starting price $750 without the station; $875 with it
Wedding for up to 120 guests, 4 hours, Silver with 2 bartenders $1,150 + ($100 × 2 bartenders × 1 extra hour) $1,350
150-guest celebration, Gold; at least 3 hours Custom quote based on the agreed hours and staffing Confirmed in the proposal; no fixed total assumed

For the dinner, the $150 bar add-on changes the equipment available, not the supply responsibilities. You still need a budget for the drinks, ice, mixers and other host-provided items.

For the wedding, both Silver bartenders work the fourth hour, so the extension is $200 rather than $100. For Gold, soft drinks, water and the Refreshment Station are already included; do not add those items again when comparing the package scope.

Use total attendance for staffing and broader service planning. Use the expected number of guests who may drink alcohol for alcohol purchasing, and account separately for any toast. Our guide to how many bartenders you need explains how menu complexity and arrival patterns affect the team you need.
