In this guide

A birthday bar can be as simple as a short signature-cocktail menu or as varied as a staffed mobile bar with alcohol-free drinks and a separate refreshment station. The best format depends on the guest mix, event schedule, venue and how much of the setup you want handled for you.

Here are eight practical ideas, with the main planning points to settle before you book.

1. Signature cocktail bar

Choose a short list of drinks that feels personal to the guest of honor. A milestone birthday might use names inspired by favorite places, hobbies or memories. Add a brief flavor description under each name so guests can choose without asking the bartender to explain every recipe.

Two or three distinct options are usually easier to order and prepare than a long list. Consider how the drinks will be made, whether they share ingredients, and what needs to be purchased fresh. BeeHive’s mobile-bar packages include two signature cocktails with Bronze, three with Silver and four with Gold. Clients purchase alcohol separately using BeeHive’s tailored shopping list.

2. Mocktail and alcohol-free bar

Give alcohol-free drinks the same thought as the cocktail menu. A citrus-and-herb spritzer, cucumber-lime cooler or berry-and-tea drink can offer a different flavor profile without alcohol. Ask guests about allergies and label ingredients clearly.

Before choosing recipes, confirm which ingredients, drinkware and preparation supplies are included in the selected service. If the venue or client supplies drinkware, agree on who will bring it and where it will be set up.

3. Mimosa or sparkling brunch bar

A brunch birthday can pair sparkling wine with a small selection of juices and fruit. Keep the choices easy to identify and place the station where guests can serve themselves without blocking the main bar or food area.

The host purchases the alcohol. Use BeeHive’s alcohol-planning tool for the event’s general drink estimate, then plan the juice, fruit and any non-alcoholic sparkling option separately. A formal toast is a separate quantity from drinks served throughout the event.

4. A planned sparkling toast

A toast works well before cake cutting, a short speech or a milestone moment. Decide who will receive an alcoholic pour and who will receive a non-alcoholic sparkling drink, then coordinate the pour with the event timeline.

For a simple estimate, a 750 ml bottle yields about six practical four-ounce pours. For 50 guests having one pour each, plan on nine bottles (50 ÷ 6 = 8.33, rounded up), plus any non-alcoholic option. This is a planning estimate; adjust for your chosen pour size and guest count. Use BeeHive’s Champagne Toast Calculator for a dedicated toast estimate, separate from the main bar shopping list.

5. Frozen slushie station

Two separate single-bowl slushie machines, one with a red frozen drink and one with a pale yellow drink, illustrating that a second flavor needs a second station.

A frozen drink can be a fun feature at an outdoor or warm-weather birthday. Label alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks clearly, and plan the station where guests can reach it without crossing the bartender’s workspace.

BeeHive’s Slushie Machine starts at $215 and includes two gallons of one alcoholic or non-alcoholic flavor, serving approximately 30 guests. Additional gallons are $45 each. One station serves one flavor; a second flavor requires a second station. Confirm the second station’s price, quantities, power and placement in the proposal. Clients purchase any alcohol separately.

6. Refreshment Station

A self-serve Refreshment Station can offer lemonade, infused water, iced tea or another seasonal house-made drink. It can sit beside a cocktail bar or serve guests who want a non-alcoholic option throughout the party.

The station starts at $125 and includes four gallons, serving approximately 45 guests. Additional gallons are $25 each, and the Refreshment Station is included in Gold. Confirm the drink choice and amount in the proposal, especially for a longer event or warm outdoor setting.

7. Sangria or spritz menu

Sangria and spritzes can suit a relaxed dinner or outdoor birthday. Keep the recipes distinct and describe the main flavors. If a drink will be batched, agree on the recipe and preparation plan in advance; do not assume a batching setup or extra ingredients are included unless the proposal says so.

Clients purchase alcohol separately. Keep any non-alcoholic option clearly labeled, and confirm who is buying the fruit, mixers and other ingredients on the shopping list.

8. Themed cocktail bar

A theme can shape cocktail names, garnish choices and the look of the bar without making the menu difficult to understand. Use a clear drink description under a playful name, and confirm any specialty ingredients or display requests before the event.

BeeHive’s packages include a custom printed menu. Extra signage, display pieces, specialty glassware or other custom print items are not standard inclusions unless listed in the proposal.

Choose the service that fits

Bronze starts at $750 and is planning guidance for up to 70 guests, with one bartender and two signature cocktails. Silver starts at $1,150 and is guidance for up to 120 guests, with two bartenders and three signature cocktails.

Gold is custom quoted for 120+ guests as guidance, with two or more bartenders and four signature cocktails. All three packages have a three-hour minimum; staffing is tailored to the event.

Package inclusions vary by tier and include the mobile bar, bar tools, ice, coolers, mixers, plastic glassware, napkins, straws, garnishes, setup and breakdown, and the custom printed menu. Gold also includes soft drinks and water and a Refreshment Station.

Extra service hours for these packages are $100 per hour per bartender.

Bartender-only service starts at $350 for a two-hour minimum, with each additional hour at $75. It includes professional bartending, bar tools, a tailored shopping list, setup and cleanup. It does not automatically include a mobile bar or mobile-bar package supplies. Clients who want BeeHive to provide the bar can add the mobile bar only for $150; that add-on includes the bar itself only. Confirm who supplies ice, coolers, mixers, garnishes and drinkware in the proposal.

For any format, share the guest count, number of guests who may drink, service hours, venue layout and expected busy period when requesting a quote. Every event is quoted individually. A 25% deposit confirms the booking, and the proposal states the remaining balance and payment deadline. Tips are optional and appreciated; tip jars require client and venue approval.

BeeHive primarily serves Orange County and select surrounding areas; travel fees may apply. Review the bar packages and request a quote.
